ABOUT US
Keith Avedissian
With over 30 years of experience in helping people improve their wellbeing, my primary focus is now as a counsellor and psychotherapist, supporting individuals through a wide range of mental and emotional challenges. I work with adults and adolescents experiencing anxiety, trauma, grief, low self-esteem, and the psychological impacts of life’s difficulties, providing a safe and supportive space to explore and create meaningful change.
My approach is grounded in a strengths-based perspective, helping clients recognise and build on their inner resources. I draw on a range of evidence-based therapies, including EMDR, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), person-centred therapy, and solution-focused approaches. I have completed a Graduate Diploma in Counselling (2008) and a Master’s degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy (2019), along with extensive training in EMDR, including basic, advanced, and masterclass levels.
A significant part of my work involves supporting clients who have experienced trauma, including psychological injuries related to workplace stress and motor vehicle accidents. In my role with the Navigator Group, I provide tailored interventions, including EMDR, imaginal exposure therapy (IET), and adjustment-focused counselling, to support clients’ recovery.
In addition to my counselling work, I have volunteered as a telephone crisis counsellor with Lifeline from 2016 to 2022, further strengthening my ability to respond with empathy, clarity, and care during times of distress.
While my primary focus is counselling and psychotherapy, my background as a naturopath and homoeopath—established early in my career after graduating in 1986—continues to inform my holistic understanding of health, recognising the close connection between emotional and physical wellbeing.
I work with clients presenting with a wide range of concerns, including trauma, anxiety, fears and phobias, grief and loss, low confidence, and anger-related difficulties. If your concerns are not listed, you are welcome to get in touch to discuss how I may support you.
