ABOUT US

Keith Avedissian

I have been practicing for over 30 years, beginning my journey as a naturopath after graduating in naturopathy in 1986. During my studies, I developed an interest in homeopathy, which led me to become a homeopath. Since then, I have successfully built a homeopathic practice, helping both adults and children with various health conditions.

In today’s world, stress, worry, and depression often contribute to, or result from, physical ailments. I find it rewarding to assist clients whose conditions have psychological and emotional origins. To enhance my skills, I pursued further education, obtaining a Graduate Diploma in Counselling in 2008. Later, in 2019, I completed a Master’s degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

My training also includes the treatment of trauma using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) techniques. I have participated in basic, advanced, and masterclass trainings in EMDR (see my “What is EMDR” page). I believe that integrating these modalities into my practice is highly beneficial for clients whose health issues are rooted in mental and emotional aspects.

Additionally, I provide counselling services to the Navigator Group, where our primary focus is to support individuals who have experienced psychological injuries in the workplace or are recovering from traumatic motor vehicle accidents. My approach involves delivering psychological support and personalized therapy, which may include adjustment counselling, imaginal exposure therapy (IET), or EMDR, tailored to each person’s specific needs.

Furthermore, I have expanded my skills through training at Lifeline and have volunteered as a telephone crisis counsellor from 2016 to 2022. I have found that incorporating counselling and EMDR creates a powerful combination for providing effective support.

In my counselling approach, I adopt a strengths-based perspective, helping clients identify and utilize their untapped strengths to facilitate positive change. Along with EMDR, I also employ various other counselling techniques, including person-centred therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

I work with clients on a wide range of mental and emotional health issues, including but not limited to:

  • Mental and emotional conditions stemming from specific events like shocks, frights, disappointments, or betrayals.
  • Trauma-related conditions.
  • Anxiety, fears, and phobias.
  • Grief and loss.
  • Self-esteem issues and poor confidence.
  • Anger and aggressive behaviours.

If you have concerns not mentioned here, please feel free to contact me to discuss how I may be able to assist you.
